My Pictures

Born 1954, Nr Goldaming Surrey.

Julia’s father was an artist, mainly life work and portraits. He also taught art at evening classes.

Julia started painting after leaving school, selling well, but stopped to have a family.

In 1991, Julia went back to college to study art and design, with the emphasise on fine art.

Julia moved to Cornwall, about 17 years ago, to be near the sea, she started painting again, inspired by the sea and the little Cornish harbours near where she lives.

Julia works in oils, with the emphasis on quirky buildings, the inspiration she takes from travelling around Cornwall and Devon. She sells her work in various places around Cornwall, and at the Strand Art Gallery in Devon.

When out and about, Julia takes her sketch book and pencil, and makes sketches and drawings, which back in her studio she uses these ideas to work on as paintings.

Recent exhibitions were A Small Point of View, in The Picture House in Padstow and From Coast to Garden at Trebah Gardens near Padstow

She is married with a grown up family and 3 grandchildren.
